Registration

While the weather is hot, the hearts are warm as our friends joyfully welcome us each time we visit.

Spanish language skills are not needed, although we do impress upon every team member to learn three simple words: Dios te bendiga – God bless you.

This simple phrase puts a smile on many faces and reminds them – and us – why we are there.

-Pastor Chris Young, Doorway Baptist Church, Regular Team Leader

FAQ

  • Trips costs are approximately $1,000 plus airfare, which is typically $500-$800. The trip fee covers all transportation in the DR, meals, and accomodations.

  • Once we arrive in Santo Domingo by airplane, we take a private 2.5hr bus ride from the airport to the hotel in Las Terrenas. During the week, we rent cars, vans, and ATVs (for qualified drivers).

  • Yes. Our trips are based out of Las Terrenas, which is a tourist destination. The area is well-supported with local police presence and security guards.

  • All rooms at Hotel Alisei have a kitchen and groceries will be available. Breakfast will be in your room, lunch provided on the ministry sites, and dinner will be served to the full team at one of the apartments. We will have 3 dinners out, including pizza night and closing night. All meals are covered by your team fee.

  • Yes. Because Las Terrenas is a tourist destination, food safety is taken very seriously. However, we advise against eating street food, which is not as regulated as the restaurants and grocery stores. We also recommend drinking only bottled water, which is provided by the hotel.

  • Vaccinactions are not required to travel with us. We recommend checking the CDC website for information on recommended vaccinations and speaking with your doctor about any concerns. If you are working on a construction site, a current tetanus shot is a good idea.

  • Not at all. Speaking Spanish is helpful but we are always well connected with translators.
